Anyone else notice how many times POC are asked to be grateful for stuff? Even oppression? Are those with power ever asked to be grateful?
Power means entitlement. It’s the powerless who must always express gratitude. Those who don’t, those who aren’t humble, those who believe fervently in a world order based on EQUALITY are always the trouble-makers.
We are told we need to shut up and take seats. It is disruptive, imbalancing and uncomfortable to have privileges questioned.
The framework is no longer about how those with power can “make room” for others using their imperial benevolence. It’s about acknowledging your place in a system of inequality and being told to take a step back. It makes people angry — they would rather “do good” and “help the powerless”. They would rather place themselves at the center.
